Teachers of the FCS Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Nawangran, run under the PPP mode by the Gram Vikas Educational Society, Zora, have complained of working without salary for the past four months.
The teachers, who have not received their salaries since June said they had been suffering a lot. They said even their last year’s 10-month salary had not been released yet, while the school was then running under the FCS Foundation.
Chairman of the school Mehar Chand Hakla said teachers were already being paid less and to add to their woes, their salaries were not even released on time.
He said in such a scenario, it was difficult to expect teachers to work sincerely.
He said other government employees working in various departments of the state government had been getting their salaries on time, but their salaries had not been released for the past four months.
A teacher of the school, Nirmal Singh, said they had been facing tough times these days. “I am married. How can I make both ends meet in the absence of salary. The government should look into our basic needs and release our salaries on time,” he said.
Managing Director of Gram Vikas Educational Society Davinder Pal Dawan said the policy of 26 Adarsh schools running in the state had been disturbed by the DGSE in October 2017.
He said the society had not received any funds from the government since then. He said the schools were running at 70:30 ratio, in which 70 per cent expenditure of schools had to be paid by the government, while the rest by societies.
He said, we had already discussed our problems with the DGSE and till date the government had not come up with a friendly policy for the schools. The situation would remain the same and teachers as well as students are bound to suffer.
Facing tough times, says teacher
