The police have arrested a teacher for allegedly raping a seven-year-old student at a government school in Hathin subdivision of the district.
In a complaint to the police, a family member of the victim alleged that accused Kunwar Singh took the girl to a vacant room after the school hours on some pretext and sexually assaulted her there. He fled after committing the crime, leaving the victim behind.
The incident took place around 3 pm on Thursday. The victim, a student of Class II, told her parents about the incident after reaching home.
The police registered a case under Section 6 of the POCSO against the accused and arrested him late last night.
“We are investigating the matter thoroughly,” said Kamla Rani, SHO, Women police station.
The SHO said that the accused teacher had no history of any crime against women. The case was registered after medical examination of the victim.
Sources said that it was the 91th case registered under the POCSO Act in the district this year.
