The Punjab Tax Bar Association has requested the Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Punjab, to extend the due date of filing of VAT 20 for the period from April 1, 2017 to June 30, 2017. A representation is sent to the ETC Punjab on the issue in which tax bar association has cited several reasons asking for the extension of date.

The Secretary General of the association, BR Kaushal said in most of the cases, the e-filing password issued by the department was not working and presently, the dealer has to follow a lengthy procedure to obtain the new password. He said it took a minimum of 2-3 working days in order to obtain the new password. The tax professionals have requested the ETC to direct the persons concerned to activate the forgotten password option so that new password may automatically be sent by the system to the registered main ID of the dealer.

Adding further, the association members said a large number of dealers, at the time of filing VAT 20 received the message of error in submission. Kaushal said the screenshots were sent to the ETC, but till date the problem still persisted.

The association members said many dealers had filed VAT 15 on the site of the department on direct link provided by the department as the site was not working. The dealers are not able to e-file Vat 20. “Nobody from helpdesk is replying properly and we are still facing problems. Only two days are left, the date should be extended further,” said Kaushal. — TNS
