Dharamsala, February 13

Students of Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College at Tanda in the district on Wednesday sold tea and collected money from people as a symbolic protest against the guarantee fee of Rs 5 lakh imposed by the state government on students who want to pursue postgraduate courses.

The medical students alleged that the demand of guarantee fee from the students was unjustified.

There were many poor students who get admissions in PG courses after clearing competitions at the national level. Even paying the regular fee was difficult for them. In such a scenario, a demand of additional Rs 5 lakh from the students was totally unjustified, they alleged.

The government had imposed the guarantee fee to retain them in the government service after completion of the postgraduate courses.
