Amritsar, December 5

Taking cognisance of the reports surfaced about atrocities on Sikligar Sikhs living in remote areas outside the state, Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has directed the SGPC to take up the matter with the Union Government to ensure their safety.

After Balsa village in Maharashtra, reports received from Sindoor village in Madhya Pradesh suggested that Sikligar Sikh families were being harassed by the local administration.

The Jathedar has directed the SGPC, the DSGMC and other Sikh organisations to come out in support of Sikligar Sikhs.

He said if such unfortunate instances kept on occurring, it could lead to serious repercussions and the onus of responsibility would be of the local administration concerned.

He recommended that the administration and police officers responsible for such acts be taken to task.

Recently following the reports of damage done to houses of Sikligar Sikh families at Basla village, the SGPC has deputed Chhattisgarh Sikh Mission incharge to probe the matter and submit a report so that necessary action could be taken.
