The Rajput Kalyan Sabha has maintained that they had taken the land legally from temple mahant.

Chairman of the Rajput Kalyan Sabha Kuldeep Thakur, reacting to the news in The Tribune regarding the laying of the foundation stone of the proposed Maharana Pratap School by the Chief Minister on a disputed land, alleged that a Haryana-based organisation had illegally taken land from the temple in Chamunda.

The organisation required permission under Section 118 of the HP Land Tenancy Act for taking any agriculture land in Himachal. However, the organisation got a licence for use of the land from the mahant of the temple. The licence agreement was signed at Nurpur despite the fact that Nurpur tehsildar did not have the jurisdiction to register a licence deed of land in Chamunda.

He alleged the member of the organisation started illegal activities in the temple. The mahant filed a complaint against the members.

The licence deed was cancelled after which they went to the court. The court had not granted them any stay, Kuldeep Thakur said.

He further said the mahant had now given 50 kanals free of cost on 99-year lease to the Rajpur Kalyan Sabha for bringing up a school.
