Ludhiana, February 12
Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Model Town, here has bagged first position in the state under the Swachh Bharat Kaya-kalap programme. Besides, two health centres at Siahara and Khanna, respectively, have won third and fourth positions, the results of which were declared recently.
Talking to The Tribune, the Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana, Dr Parvinder Sidhu, said it was an honour as three prizes among top five were won by Ludhiana district. He said the ranking was done on various parameters, including hygiene, human resource, bio medical waste etc. The UPHC at Model Town has won the first prize for the second consecutive year.
Dr Sidhu said internal assessment was done by the department while for external assessment, teams from other districts and other states visited centres. Around 50 questions are asked before ranking the health the health centres. Cash prizes are given by the government.
