Suresh off to a winning start

CHANDIGARH: Haryana’s Suresh defeated DD Bhoge of RSB Mumbai in the 57kg bout on the opening day of the All India Civil Services Wrestling Tournament at the Mani Majra Sports Complex here on Monday.

Haryana’s Suresh defeated DD Bhoge of RSB Mumbai in the 57kg bout on the opening day of the All India Civil Services Wrestling Tournament at the Mani Majra Sports Complex here on Monday. 

SG Solanki of RSD Ahmedabad got the better of RSB Jaipur’s Ashok Kumar of RSB Jaipur in another bout.

In the 61kg category, Sandeep Kumar of Haryana beat RSB Faridabad’s Sandeep, while Sunil of CS Delhi overpowered Omkar Singh of RSB Jaipur. 

Ashok Kumar of CS Delhi pinned Dharam Singh of Telengana in the 65kg category, while Kuldeep of RSB Faridabad trounced Haryana’s Jai Bhagwan. 

In the 70kg category, Ajay Kumar of CS Delhi overcame RSB Mumbai’s Anmol S Konakakar and Haryana’s Jitender Singh thumped Laxman Pahl of Maharashtra. 

Amit Singh Patil of RSB Ahmedabad defeated RSB Faridabad’s Kalu Dass in the 74kg weight category, while Delhi’s Jai Bhagwan outwitted V Kash of NCT Delhi. 

A total of 16 teams — Haryana, CS Delhi, NCT Delhi, RSB Mumbai, RSB Ahmedabad, RSB Jaipur, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, CS Gujarat, Telangana, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, RSB Hyderabad and Maharashtra — are participating in the championship.
