Youngsters these days are increasingly becoming conscious of their body type and in order to achieve their fitness goals, they are resorting to every measure — from excessive gym to following fad diets.
Those who are able to achieve a “perfect body” are also falling prey to anaemia and other diseases because of depriving themselves of nutrition. In the wake of the trend, a health and fitness fest was organised by the Indian Dietetic Association and community college at the Government College for Girls here on Tuesday.
The event was inaugurated by College Principal Savita Sharma. “The motive of the fest was to promote healthy lifestyle,” she said.
Various stalls were set up by students to create awareness regarding balanced diet and precautions to be taken for preventing anemia. A street play was also presented by students of the PAU.
Free BMI check-up, anemia screening and HB testing was carried out with the help of a team from the Health Department.
Meditation, yoga and aerobics sessions were conducted wherein Dietician from the CMC and DMC were present.
