Amritsar, December 17

Students of Spring Dale Senior School have prepared ‘thank you’ cards for soldiers for New Year and Republic Day in an activity spanning one week. Titled ‘Ek Rishta School Se Sarhad Tak’, the activity is an initiative of the Department of Revenue, Union Ministry of Finance, to proffer much-needed encouragement to the soldiers manning the country’s lonely borders. As per a circular issued by Binay Kumar Jha, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ministry of Finance, the initiative entails sending greeting cards, letters from school going students to the soldiers manning India’s loneliest yet the most volatile borders on Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat, and the North-East, to tell them that the nation stands with them. — TNS
