Amritsar, June 17

Students of Mount Litera Zee School have come up with a new way to fight plastic menace prevalent in the city under their sustainable development programme.

The school has been training its students to meet sustainable goals laid down by the United Nations. Students of Class I to X carried out a drive as part of their summer camps. They focused on using newspaper handmade bags as an alternative to the plastic bags.

The students were taught to make newspaper handmade paper bags to be distributed among general public.

The students visited Lawrence, Majitha Road and other localities of the city and informed shopkeepers and street vendors about the ill-effects of plastic. These kids also distributed free bags to vendors and shopkeepers.

School director Manjot Dhillon said, “The sustainable development programme is part of our school curriculum. We do multiple activities to teach kids value of the environment. It is our endeavor to make the mother earth a happy place.” — TNS
