Jammu, January 17

Scholars and students of the University of Jammu and Government MAM Postgraduate Degree College on Thursday blocked the university road to protest the recent decision of the State Administrative Council (SAC) of converting non-teaching posts into teaching posts.

The protesters assembled outside the central library of the university and later marched on the road and blocked it for more than three hours.

They claimed that nearly 4,500 posts of non-teaching posts were being converted into teaching posts to accommodate regularised ReTs which was a grave injustice with educated youth.

Later, a delegation of five scholars met Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Adviser to Governor, and apprised him of their grievances. However, the delegation described the Adviser’s approach as “non-serious” and announced continuing their protest till their demands were met.
