The Congress today panned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, alleging that he resorted to “old evading tactics” to hoodwink the common people as if he was still in election mode and failed to address the real issues.

Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, who was at the receiving end of PM’s speech today, said the PM disappointed the people by not addressing issues like agriculture, industry, unemployment or Bihar’s encephalitis deaths in his speech.

“PM resorted to evading tactics—hoodwinking common people as if he was still in election mode,” he said.

The Opposition, however, scored a success as the PM had finally begun recognising Congress leaders, he added. “The PM, who used to be reluctant to recognise any Congress leader, was today compelled to quote Pt Jawaharlal Nehru at the end of his speech. I think this was our great victory,” Chowdhury said.
