Chandigarh, December 16
Haryana has received the Best State Legal Services Authority Award in the country in the annual event organised by the National Legal Service Authority in Delhi on Saturday to select best-performing states.
Chandigarh got the award in best para-legal volunteer and best legal-aid counsel categories among small states and union territories. Justice Madan B Lokur of the Supreme Court gave away the awards.
Mahavir Singh, Additional District and Sessions Judge and member-secretary of the State Legal Services Authority, UT, Chandigarh, received the award on behalf of his legal body.
He said the Haryana Legal Services Authority was adjudged best authority in the country and District Legal Services Authority, Gurugram, was adjudged best among northern states.
Sunita Rani and Gautam Bhardwaj of Chandigarh were adjudged best para-legal volunteer and best legal-aid counsel, respectively, among small states and union territories. — TNS
