Sports varsity to come up in Rai

The Haryana Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today, approved a sports university in Rai (Sonepat) and a policy to empower the youth to achieve their potential and facilitate all-round development of society.

The policy aims at creating a productive work force, which can contribute sustainably to the state’s and the country’s economic development, an official spokesman said.

“The policy is in line with the definition of youth provided in the National Youth Policy and focuses on people in the age group of 15-29 years ,” the spokesman said.

The Sports and Youth Affairs Department will be the nodal department for the implementation of the policy.

The Cabinet also decided that acid attack victims, who have permanent disability certification, will be eligible for monthly pension. The victim will be eligible to claim only one pension. This means that if her case is approved for the acid attack victim assistance, she will not be eligible for any other kind of social security pension. The victim will be required to submit an annual undertaking.

Besides, the Council of Ministers gave their nod to the Haryana State Culture Policy — KALASH (Kala Evam Sanskriti Haryana Neeti). The policy will collect, digitise and preserve rare books, manuscripts and archives for posterity. It will also ensure support from the public as well as private sector for artists and their arts.

The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Rules, 1976.

As per the amendment, the rate of extension fee per acre for allowing further time period to construct community sites will be Rs10 lakh in a hyper area, comprising part of the development plan of Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex; Rs9 lakh in high-I areas forming part of the development plan of Faridabad-Ballabgarh Urban Complex, part of the Sohna Development Plan in Gurugram district and areas forming part of Gwal Pahari development plan; and Rs7 lakh in the high-II periphery controlled areas of Panchkula, Sonepat-Kundli Urban Area Complex and Panipat.

For medium areas, the rate of extension fee will be Rs6 lakh. The rate will be Rs5 lakh for low-I areas and Rs4 lakh for low-II areas. The time period for the renewal of licence has been extended from existing two years to five years.
