Sports meet for forest officials begins

KULLU: Forests, Transport and Youth Services and Sports Minister Govind Singh Thakur inaugurated the three-day 21st State-Level Sports and Forest Duty Tournament of the Forest Department at Dhalpur Ground here on Tuesday.

Forests, Transport and Youth Services and Sports Minister Govind Singh Thakur inaugurated the three-day 21st State-Level Sports and Forest Duty Tournament of the Forest Department at Dhalpur Ground here on Tuesday. As many as 700 women and men players from 13 teams of all wings and circles of the department are participating in the tournament.

During his address, he said sports kept players physically and mentally fit and increased the team spirit in them. He said after participating in such competitions, the officers and employees were able to deliver better services in their respective areas. Govind said the possibility of developing indoor and outdoor stadiums would be explored for the officers and employees. The Forest Minister also urged all to work with devotion The minister said modern facilities would be provided to the employees. Earlier, the Forest minister hoisted the flag of the tournament and took salute of the march past. Principal Chief Conservator Ajay Kumar Sharma and Kullu Circle Conservator Anil Sharma welcomed the Forest Minister and gave detailed information about the competition. Ajay Kumar spoke on the achievements of players. Kullu DFO Neeraj Chadha thanked everyone. — OC
