3 gold medals for veteran Sidhu

Chandigarh: Veteran athlete Capt (retd) GS Sidhu won three gold medals in the recently-concluded 40th National Masters Athletics Championship in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He won a gold each in shot put, hammer throw and discus throw.

Chandigarh:  Veteran athlete Capt (retd) GS Sidhu won three gold medals in the recently-concluded 40th National Masters Athletics Championship in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He won a gold each in shot put, hammer throw and discus throw. His younger brother PS Sidhu won a bronze medal each in hammer throw and discus throw. The duo will now gear up to represent India in the Asian Masters Athletics Championship in Malaysia from September 5-10. TNS

Jasneet, Vishal best athletes  

Mohali:  Jasneet Kaur and Vishal Singh were adjudged Best Athletes on the concluding day of the 14th Annual Athletics Meet of CGC Landran. On the last day of the competition, Anchal Sharma claimed the shot put gold, while Chandan Kumar topped the podium in javelin throw. Shilpa Thakur, Harleen Kaur and Priya Sharma claimed the top-three positions, respectively, in the girls’ discus throw event. In the boys’ discus throw, Deepak Kumar bagged the gold, while Sahil Kumar won the silver medal. Rajiv Rai pocketed the bronze medal. Athletes Preeti, Romilla shine 

Panchkula: Preeti was declared the Best Athlete, while Romilla Bhatia was adjudged the Best Sportsperson of the Year on the concluding day of the 35th Annual Sports Day of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36. Preeti, Harpreet Kaur and Raj Rani claimed the top three positions, respectively, in the 100m dash, while in the 50m sprint, Neha Jaswal bagged the gold medal. She was followed by Shivani Bisht with a silver. Raj Rani got the bronze medal. Parineeta Grover topped the podium in shot put. Ramneet Kaur bagged the second position, while Shefali Wadhera claimed the third spot. TNS

Vikas, Rimpy clinch top spots 

Panchkula:  Vikas and Rimpy were adjudged the best athletes in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively, on the concluding day of the 33rd ports meet of Government Postgraduate College, Sector 1, here on Wednesday. Saniya was given a special prize for participating in all the sports events. Meanwhile, Davinder Kaur finished on top in the women teachers’ race. Sucha Singh dominated the field in the men’s category. TNS
