Sonepat varsity sets up centre for society

Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya (BPSMV) at Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat district is the only university in Haryana to establish Centre for Society University Interface and Research (CSUIR) for creating an interface cum bridge between universities and society.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Sushma Yadava today said universities were supposed to play a vital role in societal development which was possible only through collaboration.

The VC said the CSUIR at BPSMV had been created to conduct socially relevant research and offer programmes in areas such as folk medicine, energy resource management and cooperative management so that rural women in particular could be empowered and made socially and financially independent.

Prof Yadava said the university had adopted 10 villages in the vicinity for undertaking the activities of CSUIR.
