Tarn Taran: Four members, including an Army man of a family, have been booked for dowry harassment. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gurmej Singh, investigating officer, said a case was registered on the complaint of Kamaldip Kaur, who was married to an Army man, Jaspreet Singh, of Fatehbad (Goindwal Sahib) two years ago. Kamaldip alleged that her husband thrashed her with an iron rod, along with his father Darshan Singh, elder brother Jodha Singh and sister Balwinder Kaur, last month. She also accused them of forcing her out of the house due to which she had to take shelter in a gurdwara. She said that she informed her parents who took her with them to Chuharchak Nven village in Moga. According to the ASI, the accused are at large. Sections 323, 498-A and 34 of the IPC have been slapped. oc
scuffle claims life
Phagwara: Sharan Dass (65), a resident of Goraya, was killed in a scuffle with two persons at Ramgarhia Mohalla in Goraya on Friday. Lakhwinder Jassal, alias Vicky and Ravinder Kumar, alias Pamma (siblings) have been booked. Phillaur DSP Amrik Singh Chahal said the deceased was raising objection as Vicky and Pamma used to park their car in front of his house. During a scuffle, Sharan Dass fell down and died on the spot. The Goraya police have registered a case under Section 304 of the IPC against them. The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. OC
