Accident victim dies of injuries

Barnala: A local resident, who had met with an accident on June 20, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday night. The deceased, Mithu Singh, and his brother were going their village in Barnala when their motorcycle was hit by a pick-up van. Mithu had suffered serious injuries and was admitted to the Dhanauala hospital, from where he was referred to Patiala and then the PGI in Chandigarh. A case under Sections 279,304-A, 427 IPC was registered against driver Balwinder Singh. TNS

Teachers against new task

Barnala: Computer teachers from Barnala on Friday gathered at Chintu Park and announced to launch a protest if authorities failed to withdraw the orders to assign them the job of computer data entry of other departments’ employee details. “The Punjab Government is claiming that they are taking all required steps to improve results, but still our authorities are assigning us non-teaching work. We would protest if the orders are not withdrawn immediately,” said Sikandar Singh, district president of the computer teachers union. TNS
