A Canada-based NRI woman was robbed of her purse by a bike-borne youth when she, along with her husband, was going to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple here on Saturday.

Baldev Singh Chandi told the police that he, along with his wife, was going to the Golden Temple on a rickshaw and when they reached near Sheran Wala Gate, an unidentified youth came on a bike and snatched the purse of his wife from her.

He said the purse contained their Canadian passports, 1,400 US dollars, 1,900 Canadian dollars, a gold chain and other belongings.

A case under Sections 379-B of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Division B police station in this regard.
