A skill training centre was launched in Aman Vihar, New Delhi, under Delhi Police’s ‘YUVA’ programme last week. The training-cum-skill development centre that aims to benefit juvenile delinquents by imparting them relevant skills and help get jobs under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) has been set up by Centum WorkSkills India Limited. The centre currently offers ‘Self-employed Tailor’ and ‘Field Technician — networking and storage’ for the youth. In addition to classroom training, emphasis is on hands on training for which the centre has IT lab as well as sewing machine lab. It also has zones dedicated for counselling and placement support. More than 120 students have enrolled for the programme.

With an aim to empower the underprivileged youth, ‘YUVA’ programme was launched in 2017 by Delhi Police in a tie-up with National Skill Development Corporation and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). — TNS
