Lucknow, January 22

Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to shut down primary-level madrasas across the country in order to check IS’ influence on Muslim children.

Rizvi, who has supported the demand for Ram temple in Ayodhya and a Uniform Civil Code, said Muslim children, if they wanted, could take admission to madrasas after completing high school.“It can be seen that children are soft targets for running any mission and at this point in time the IS is a dangerous terror unit that is gradually getting hold over the Muslim population. “...if madrasas are not shut down, about half of the country’s population will become supporters of the IS ideology in 15 years,” Rizvi said.  He said the support to the IS is visible in Kashmir where children are being alienated from people of other religion in the name of Islamic education. — PTI
