A team of the Samba district administration on Sunday demolished several shops constructed on the 4-kanal land of Auqaf Islamia at Keranwali village in Ramgarh tehsil.
The anti-encroachment drive was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chauhan on the land bearing khasra No. 473/200 and belonging to Auqaf Islamia.
As per the Revenue Department officials, some locals had illegally occupied the land and raised illegal structures (shops) on it. “Despite strong opposition by the encroachers during the eviction drive, the team of the Revenue Department, with the help of the police, pressed a JCB into action and demolished all illegal pucca structures and handed over the retrieved land to the representatives of the Auqaf Department,” they said.
The fencing of the land was also raised around the retrieved land on the spot, said an official.
The drive was carried out by a revenue team headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba, Vikas Gupta and comprising Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vijaypur, Vijay Sharma and tehsildar Ramgarh. The police contingent was led by SDPO Vijaypur, Baljit Singh and SHO Ramgarh. The administrator Auqaf Islamia Saleem Alam was also present on the spot.
