Srinagar, February 18

A day after the administration withdrew the security cover of four separatists, Hurriyat leader Molvi Abbas Ansari on Monday urged the authorities to withdraw his security.

Abbas, who heads the Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen organisation, is protected by eight police personnel.

In a letter to the SSP, Security, Abbas said henceforth he won’t provide any accommodation to the cops deployed for his security at his home here.

One of Abbas’ family members, wishing not to be named, said in the morning the SHO concerned came to their residence, demanding additional accommodation for the security men. “But we took a decision asking the police to withdraw it (the security) as the government has also withdrawn security of other leaders,” said the Hurriyat leader’s relative. — TNS
