Self-styled godman booked for fraud

Kharar: The Kharar police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the IPC against Budh Singh of Mehndipur on the charge of committing a fraud. He allegedly duped Avtar Kaur, a resident of New Honey Avenue, of Rs 17.25 lakh. The complainant told the police that the suspect claimed to be a godman and she came into his contact during the treatment of her brother-in-law Gurdip Singh. She had sold her house in Mohali on the directions of the suspect and purchased a house in Kharar. The suspect had taken Rs 17.25 lakh from her and did not return it. OC
