Kurukshetra: Security has been tightened in the holy city for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Tuesday. The venue near Brahma Sarovar, where Modi will convene a conference on ‘Swachh Shakti’, has been converted into a cantonment on the account of security arrangements. Sources said 1,800 policemen, including 11 SPs, 23 DSPs and 80 inspectors, had been deployed. The elite SPG forces have taken over the venues and carried out the final inspections and security audit for the PM’s visit. More than 15,000 members of civic bodies, panchayat representatives and Asha workers from across the country have assembled here. Meanwhile, the managements of various educational institutes have declared a holiday on Tuesday in view of the restrictions over vehicular movement in the city. TNS
