Zirakpur, September 29

The local police have stepped-up the vigil across Zirakpur town, ahead of the festival season. The security apparatus at prominent places such as bus stand, shopping mall, besides key intersections have been strengthened and a constant vigil is being maintained at all vulnerable locations.

SHOs have been directed to enhance a vigil in and around religious places, educational institutes and crowded markets and to supervise the preventive and proactive measures to prevent any untoward incidents during, before and after the festival season. The Zirakpur police have already made precautionary arrangements so that anti-social elements could not pose any threat.

Even though vulnerability is always there, whenever there is a large movement of people, we cannot afford to leave any gaps especially during festivals as the threat perception goes up,” said a senior police officer. The Zirakpur police conducted a special house-to-house search here on Sunday. The police officials visited the houses of anti-social elements who had served jail term and had come out recently situated in the residential localities. — OC
