Ludhiana: Guys & Dolls Preschool celebrated Republic Day with enthusiasm. The school was decorated with tricolour balloons, flags and kites. Children came dressed as Bhagat Singh, Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Bharat Mata, Jawahar Lal Nehru and Rani Laxmibai. Tiny tots were given special tricolour badges. They sang patriotic songs and national anthem. School Director Ayush Sekhri addressed the students.
Guru Nanak International School
The Republic Day celebrations were held at Guru Nanak International Public School. The whole school campus was caught up in patriotic fervor. Students from pre-primary to middle classes participated in various events such as choreography, “nukkad natak”, singing, dance, speech, poem, etc. Students of Literary Club started the function by enlightening the audience about the importance of school clubs and celebration of Republic Day. A skit based on cleanliness of Buddha Darya was presented by the students. Mrs GK Gill, Principal, motivated the students to build a better and strong India.
EC holds awareness session
Deepak Saini, Jasjot Singh and Abhimanyu Thind from the Election Commission of India created awareness on voting right among students of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar. Saini told the students about the character of a leader and parties at the time of horse trading, a practice being adopted by parties to come to power. In this scenario, it is for the voters to vote and support the well-meaning candidates who rise above vested interests and work for the development of the country, he said.
Inter-class Hindi debate contest
An inter-class Hindi debate competition was held for Class VI at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, on Thursday. The aim of the competition was to let the students use the wings of cognitive creativity through their effective oratory skills. The topics were ‘Internet’, ‘ Mata Pita ka Daatna’, ‘Greh Karya’ etc. The result is as follows: Dhriti first; Rudr and Tanvi second; Vanya and Ansh third. A consolation prize was given to Harshita. Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar, Principal, lauded the efforts of the students.
National Girl Child Day celebrated
National Girl Child Day was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Civil City, Ludhiana, on Thursday. The objective of the celebrations was to increase awareness among the girls about their rights. The school organised activities such as fancy dress competition and face painting contest to highlight the significance of the day. Besides, a rally was organised by the school to increase people’s consciousness towards the girl child and highlight the inequalities faced by the girls in society.
BVM, Chandigarh Road
“A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present and the hope of the future”. BVM, Chandigarh Road, celebrated National Girl Child Day with the aim of highlighting the inequalities faced by a majority of girls in the country. The programme commenced with a “nukkad natak” staged by the students of Class XI in the nearby market area to propagate the gender equality. People largely applauded the performance. Various activities such as picture pasting, collage making and poster making were held for the students of Clas I-VIII.
BVM, Kitchlu Nagar
Offering respect and support to the girl child, Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Kitchlu Nagar, celebrated National Girl Child Day. The students pledged to build a society with a difference by taking positive measures in favour of girls. Bringing a paradigm shift in the thought of society is urgently needed for providing justice to girls. Take stock of efforts to improve the lot of women by redefining and refocusing on equality and justice, said Principal Neelam Mittar.
Green Grove School
Khanna: Students of Class IX B at Green Grove School, Khanna, observed National Girl Child Day. The students took part in discourses and sung poems to highlight the need to save the girl child in India. JPS Jolly was the chief guest for the occasion.
Players bring laurels
Tisha Kalsi of Grade I-B of Manav Rachna International School has bagged first position in the Third Punjab State Karate Championship 2019 (under 15-30 kg weight category). It was organised by the Indian Martial Arts Association of Punjab affiliated to the All-India Karate Federation of India, International Martial Art (USA).
