Vidya Valley School celebrated Lohri with much enthusiasm. Students presented poems, folk songs and dances. They showcased their innovative skills by making kites of vibrant and glittering colours. Chairman Jaspal Singh encouraged the students to spread brotherhood and peace. Groundnuts and popcorns were distributed among all.

Maharaja Jassa Singh, Chandigarh

Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Public School, Sector 27-D, lit a bonfire to celebrate Lohri. The school management and Principal Sagrika Bakshi extended their wishes to the students and their parents.

Aanchal International, Chandigarh

Lohri was celebrated at Aanchal International School with great pomp and show. A bonfire was lit and students offered prayers to ‘agni’. Students sang Punjabi folk songs, Lohri songs and poems. They were distributed sweets and nuts as a part of the celebration. 

AKSIPS-65 Smart, Mohali

To seek the blessings of the Almighty for New Year and best wishes for board classes, a Sukhmani Sahib ‘paath’ was organised at AKSIPS-65. Prasad was distributed among all, followed by langar. Executive Director Jasdeep Kalra extended his best wishes to the students and guided them to remain stress free during exams.

Shishu Niketan-43, Chandigarh

Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 43-A, Chandigarh, organised a special assembly to celebrate Lohri. Songs in the praise of ‘Dulha Bhatti’ were sung. A bonfire was lit and prayers were offered to it. Later, ‘revari’, ‘gachak’, groundnuts and popcorns were distributed among the students.

St Soldier Int’l Convent, Mohali

St Soldier International Convent School, Phase 7, celebrated Lohri with fervour. Students visited Chuhar Majra village and created awareness on drug menace among the residents. They also encouraged the residents to spread the message of saving the girl child and clean and green environment. Later, goodies were distributed among the needy.

Sehajpreet shines in archery

Sehajpreet Kaur, a Class XI student of Ryan International School, won a gold and three bronze medals in the 64th National School Games in the recurve event organised by the School Games Federation of India at Yamuna Sports Complex, New Delhi. This was the first time that Sehajpreet won four medals in the nationals. She is all set to perform at the Khelo India Youth Games 2019 scheduled to be held from January 17 to 20 and qualify for this year's South Asian Archery Championship. She thanked Principal Pooja Sharma and teachers who motivated her to achieve the best. On behalf of the Ryan family, the school principal congratulated her parents and wished success to Sehajpreet for her future endeavours. TNS

Founder's Day celebrated

The 71st Founder’s Day of Modern Senior Secondary School was celebrated in the memory of Sardar Mohan Singh, who founded the school in 1948 and bequeathed resources for its development. The day was celebrated with fervour, zest and enthusiasm by students and alumni of the school. On the occasions, awards for best academic performance of the year, best athlete of the year, character award and best class of the year were given away by the school chairman. TNS
