Mono acting contest held

Ludhiana: An inter-section mono acting competition was organised for students of Class VII at Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar Bypass. Around 30 students participated in the event based on patriotism. Through mono acting, students highlighted various issues ailing India. Final judgment was done on the basis of the student’s confidence, subject matter, voice modulation and presentation.

Judo tourney organised

The 39th sub-junior judo championship 2018 was organised by the Ludhiana Judo Association at the Guru Nanak Stadium, Multipurpose Hall. More than 500 participants from all over the state participated in the event. Prominent sportspersons were present during the opening ceremony to motivate the players.

Skit competition held

An inter-house skit competition was held at Ryan International School, Dugri, for Class I to X students as a part of the Environment Week celebrations. Students used innovative methods to put forth the message of a clean and green India. Raman House emerged as the winner in the contest. The second position was bagged by Aryabhatta House followed by Einstein House.

Student shines

Bhumi Verma, a student of Class VIII of Sacred Heart Convent Senior Secondary School, Khanna, brought laurels by winning a silver medal in U-14 sub-junior category at the state level boxing championship held at Talwandi Sabo.

Tribute to ex-PM Vajpayee 

A series of activities were organised for students of different classes under the programme ‘Aao Fir Se Diya Jalayen’ to pay homage to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at BVM School, Sector 39. A documentary ‘Atal Gatha’ featuring the highlights of life of the visionary leader was shown to students. Children pledged to follow the path shown by the former PM for shaping a better future. 

World Mosquito Day celebrated

Students at Bharatiya Vidya Mandir, Sector-39, Chandigarh Road, observed World Mosquito Day. Children went to a nearby slum and presented a nukkad natak to sensitise the people about mosquito menace as they are most prone to vector-borne diseases.

Zonal tourney commences 

Ludhiana II Zonal Tournament commenced at Guru Nanak Public School, Sarabha Nagar. The school will be hosting basketball, football and handball tournament for girls and boys in different categories i.e. U-14, U-17 and U-19. The event commenced with a girl’s basketball match. As many as 18 teams from 10 schools in the city participated in the tourney. 

Class X, XII toppers felicitated 

A felicitation programme was organised at BCM School, Basant Avenue, to honour toppers and meritorious students who excelled in the CBSE Class X and XII exams. Besides, recognising their academic excellence, the budding cricketers of the school were also conferred with awards for obtaining the first position at the Zonal Punjab School Tournament (U-14). — TNS
