School damaged by landslide in Doda district; no casualty

DODA: A higher secondary school was damaged in a landslide in the mountainous Doda district on Monday.

A higher secondary school was damaged in a landslide in the mountainous Doda district on Monday. There was, however, no report of injury to anyone.

The incident took place around 25 km from the district headquarters in the Kuddhar area of the Kashtighar tehsil on Monday afternoon.

The Tehsildar, of Kashtighar, Irshad Ahmed, said: “I have sent a team of officials to the area to find out the reasons behind the incidenet and ascertain the damage incurred to the school building.”

In the past 24 hours, Doda and Kishtwar districts have witnessed heavy rainfall in the plains and snowfall in the upper reaches.

The Deputy Commissioner of Doda district, Anshul Garg, said: “All link roads, including the Doda-Kishtwar national highway, are open for traffic despite heavy rain and snowfall in the upper reaches.”

He added, “There are no reports of any damage to property in any part of the district, but I am confirming about the landslide in Kashtighar.”

Meanwhile, three road accidents were reported from Doda on Monday. There was, however, no report of grievous injuries to anyone.
