Scheme for infants to be launched

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will launch the Atal Aashirwad Yojana (AAY) for infants born in government hospitals at the Ner Chowk medical college here on October 20. Health Minister Vipin Parmar and other ministers will also be present.

Under the scheme, newborn babies will get 15 items, including a blanket, a mosquito net, napkins and toys, worth Rs 1,500 for free during the discharge.

According to information, the scheme was earlier known as the Mukhya Mantri Aashirwad Scheme. It has been renamed by the state government.

“The aim is to encourage safe institutional deliveries,” said the Health Minister. He said the scheme would be launched throughout the state. The kits would be made available at all hospitals and would be given away as a token of appreciation, he added.
