SC collegium recommends 3 names for permanent judges

NEW DELHI:The Supreme Court collegium on Friday recommended that three of the four additional judges of the Allahabad High Court be made permanent judges.

The Supreme Court collegium on Friday recommended that three of the four additional judges of the Allahabad High Court be made permanent judges.

The collegium of the Allahabad High Court had recommended elevating these four additional judges as permanent judges against the existing vacancies on February 18 and April 8.

A three-member collegium, headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, and comprising justices SA Bobde and NV Ramana considered the opinion of the judges who are conversant with the affairs of the High Court, report of the judgment evaluation committee, complaints received against one of the judges and Law Ministry and recommended the names of Irshad Ali, Neeraj Tiwari and Virendra Kumar-II as permanent judges.

“In view of the above, the collegium resolves to recommend that: Justices Irshad Ali, and Neeraj Tiwari, Additional Judges be appointed as permanent judges of the Allahabad High Court against the existing vacancies,” the three-member collegium said in the resolution uploaded on the apex court website.

By a separate resolution, the collegium also recommended the name of Virendra Kumar to be made a permanent judge. — PTI
