Sangrur man gets life term in rape case

SANGRUR: A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. On May 1, 2018, the victim’s mother approached the police, saying her second husband Harbhajan Singh, a labourer and an alcoholic, raped her daughter.

A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter. 

On May 1, 2018, the victim’s mother approached the police, saying her second husband Harbhajan Singh, a labourer and an alcoholic, raped her daughter. 

The woman said he threatened her daughter of dire consequences if she narrated the episode to anybody. The victim's statement was recorded and an FIR was registered against the accused. 

A fine of Rs 50,000 was also imposed on Harbhajan and in case of default of payment, the sentence would be extended by two years. 

3 booked for gang rape

Abohar: A 15-year-old girl on Saturday alleged that three youths had forcefully entered their house when she was alone and raped her. The victim identified one of the accused as Dinesh Kumar. The police said a case had been registered and raids were being conducted to arrest the accused. — TNS
