Sandhu in Taiwan lead

India’s Ajeetesh Sandhu carded five birdies and two bogeys for a second-round 3-under 69 to take a one-shot lead at the Mercuries Taiwan Masters golf tournament here today.

Sandhu, who started his round one shot off the pace, birdied the 16th to take sole possession of the lead at a 7-under 137.

Rashid Khan (72-71) and Chiragh Kumar (72-71) were tied-17th at 1-under, while Viraj Madappa (72-72) and Khalin Joshi (71-73) were tied-29th. Among other Indians, Shiv Kapur (75-72), Aadil Bedi (74-74), Abhijit Chadha (72-76), Aman Raj (71-78) and Jeev Milkha Singh (76-77) missed the cut.

Bhullar T-8 in Spain

Madrid: Gaganjeet Bhullar was superb on the back-nine, striking three birdies and an eagle, for a four-under 67 which placed him tied-8th after the first round of the Mutuactivos Open golf tournament.

SSP Chawrasia, fought back over the last six holes with four birdies and was one-under 70 in tied-42nd place. Kristian Krogh Johannessen birdied four of his last six holes to card a 63 that saw the Norwegian jump to 8-under, two shots clear of Arnaus and three ahead of Cabrera Bello and defending champion Rahm.

Lahiri with 69 at Vegas

Las Vegas: Anirban Lahiri shot a modest 2-under 69 in the first round to be placed tied-67 at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He missed no putts inside 10 feet, yet he finished with only 69 and now needs a good second round to make the weekend cut. — Agencies
