Bathinda, October 17

SAD leaders alleged that they were not allowed to submit their nomination papers for election to management committees of the Bhagta Patti Fafra Multipurpose Agriculture Cooperative Society Limited at Rampura in the district.

SAD leader Gurpreet Singh Maluka said since the Congress party has come to power, Rampura Phul MLA Gurpreet Singh Kangar is violating the constitution and law with help of police and administration officials.

He said Wednesday was the day for filing nominations for elections to the management committee of the cooperative society, but their candidates were not allowed to submit their papers as a huge posse, including three SHOs and one DSP-rank official, was deployed, which threw their candidates out of the building. Later, Congress supported candidates were declared winners unopposed, whereas voting for this election was to be held tomorrow.

Later in the evening opposing this, SAD candidates have submitted their papers to the deputy commissioner. While they also claim that they have lodged a civil suit in the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding this, hearing for which would be held on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Praneet said, “In the evening, SAD leaders came to me with a complaint and he told the registrar of societies which conduct these elections to look into it and all the things should be held as per law.”
