Fatehgarh Sahib, Sept 9

The district unit of SAD, led by its chief Swarn Singh Chanarthal, on Monday staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in protest against the Congress government and its officials for “committing atrocities and registering false police cases against party workers”.

They also protested the removal of the president of Sirhind-Fatehgarh Sahib Municipal Council, Sher Singh, who belongs to SAD, on the behest of local Congress MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra.

Addressing the workers, former minister-cum-incharge of Fatehgarh Sahib Surjit Singh Rakhra, said the Congress government that came to power by making false promises had failed on all fronts.

Meanwhile, Congress councillors termed the dharna a drama just to hide the scams committed by the outgoing MC president. The councillors demanded a probe into the scam.
