Run highlights importance of traffic rules

Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Minister Mahender Singh Thakur today urged people to strictly follow road safety rules to avoid road fatalities in this hilly state. He was here today to flag off a mini marathon under road safety awareness campaign.

The minister stated that violation of traffic rules like over speeding, drunken driving, using mobile phones and not wearing helmet while riding two wheelers are major causes of road fatalities. The state government is seriously concerned about reducing road fatalities in the state.

“The road safety awareness campaign has been launched by the state government to make people aware about importance of abiding road safety rules, which will play a crucial role in reducing road accidents”, he remarked.

He said it is a statewide campaign in all districts of the state to make people aware about road safety rules. Nearly 300 persons took active participation in the marathon to spread the road safety message.
