What could be termed as the careless attitude and “who cares” behavior of Dugri SHO Gurbachan Singh, a phone recording has gone viral where the SHO is rudely speaking with a man who wants to lodge a complaint of assault.

The complainant, apart from filing a complaint against the SHO on the 181 helpline, has decided to approach the higher authorities, including the DGP.

“Am I your servant, don’t you know the time, go and check the time before calling me. Don’t you know the police station number. You seem to be drunk,” says the SHO in the phone call recording.

A worker of RSS, Charanjit Singh, alias Jasraj Grewal, of Dugri, said around 11.15 pm last night while he was headed home in his car, he stopped near Passi Chowk to answer nature’s call. Four or five persons arrived there in an Innova and attacked him with iron rods and baseball bats. “I don’t know why I was attacked. I could not identify the assailants. What I was able to notice was that the Innova car was of golden colour and it had an incomplete number, PB 10 9338,” he said

After the assailants had fled the scene, he called up police control room number ‘100’. When nobody turned up for 20 minutes, he went to the police station. He kept knocking the door of the Dugri police station for 15 minutes. When nobody opened the door, he called up SHO Gurbachan Singh on his official number. But the SHO, instead of listening to him, started misbehaving with him over the phone. “When I told the SHO that he is a public servant and he cannot talk like this, he did to not budge and instead levelled allegation against me that I am calling him under the influence of liquor. But I was not drunk,” alleged the complainant.

Kept knocking police station door but nobody opened it: Complainant

"After the assailants had fled the scene, I called up police control room number ‘100’. When nobody turned up for 20 minutes, I went to the police station. I kept on knocking the door of the Dugri police station for 15 minutes. When nobody opened the door, I called up SHO Gurbachan Singh on his official number." Charanjit Singh, RSS worker

Worker was not attacked: Dugri SHO

"Charanjit called me up late night, at the time when he was standing outside the police station. I only told him why he called me up at his time when he is there at the police station. When the police told him to file a complaint, he escaped from the police station. Our investigation says he was not attacked, rather he had scuffled with his friends when they all were consuming liquor." Gurbachan Singh
