RSETI shows the way to generate employment

BARNALA: To empower unemployed rural youth, the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI) has commenced several training programmes in the district.

To empower unemployed rural youth, the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI) has commenced several training programmes in the district. Till date out of 3,700 trainees, 2,513 have started their own business.

As per the information, from April 2018 onwards, 221 trainees have been trained of which 179 were women and 42 men. Of them 165 were from below poverty line (BPL) families.

Recently, a batch of 34 trainees successfully completed dairy farming and vermicompost training at the Jagjitpura village and a batch of 23 girls have also been awarded certificates after completion of cutting and tailoring course from the institute.

Barnala Deputy Commissioner Dhampal Gupta said, “Directions have been issued to various private and government sector banks to clear pending loans of beneficiaries sponsored by this institute to esure that beneficiaries trained by the RSETI can start their own businesses and become self dependent.”

He appreciated the RSETI for training unemployed youth. Gupta said efforts are being made to bring more people under the ambit of the RSETI.

Dr Satpal Garg, Director, SBI-RSETI, Barnala said people falling in the BPL category are also being trained in the institute so that they can become self dependent. — TNS
