The MLA from Dakha, HS Phoolka, has announced Rs 5,000 immediate relief to farmers of his constituency, whose crop was destroyed by the recent hailstorm. Phoolka also urged the NRIs of the state to help farmers of their respective areas.

In a statement here today, Phoolka stated, “I have decided to offer relief to small farmers under the immediate farmer relief scheme. “I will give Rs 5,000 to small farmers, who have five acres. I will also prepare a list of farmers, who are doing farming by taking land on contract. The government will be requested to help these farmers too,” he added.

Under the relief scheme, farmers of Dakha, whose crop was damaged due to fire were given Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per family. In all, relief for around 80 acres was given to farmers, he added.

Even now, many farmers, who lost their potato crop, would be given cash relief, he said.

“I also appeal to the NRIs of Punjab to give maximum cash relief to farmers of their villages so that they do not face any loses. I also appeal to farmers, who lost their crop, to contact my office. I will meet farmers at my office in this regard on February 9,” Phoolka added.
