Rs 110.74 cr released for health infra upgrade

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released the final instalment of Rs 110.74 crore under the PM’s Development Package (PMDP) for upgrading the healthcare infrastructure in J&K. With this, the entire amount of Rs 900 crore has been released for the state.

Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo said in all, 145 ongoing and new health projects in the state had been identified for upgrade under the PMDP. He said following the submission of the detailed project reports, the Centre had released the requisite funds for the completion of the works.

Dulloo said the projects include the augmentation of infrastructure in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals and primary health centres.

He said with the latest release of the final instalment of Rs 110.74 crore, the health and medical education department had become the first department in the state to get the full allocation of Rs 900 crore under the PMDP. He said the projects to be taken up under the final instalment include maternity block at the SMGS Hospital, Jammu; and emergency block at the GMCH, Jammu, among others. —TNS
