Jhajjar, August 14

The roof of a room of Government Primary School located at the main bazaar in Bahadurgarh town here collapsed on Monday night.

As many as 180 students are enrolled in the school. Two of its rooms have already been declared unsafe.

The incident came to the light when schoolteachers arrived there on Tuesday morning. The teachers did not conduct the classes on Tuesday.

Tarawati, head of the school, said she had already apprised the higher authorities of the dilapidated condition of the school building. A request had also been sent for a new building. Classes were not being conducted in the room — whose roof collapsed on Monday — for the past several days, she added.
