The Model Town police busted a robbers’ gang involved in several loot incidents by arresting three of its members and recovered stolen cash and motorcycles and arms from them.

The suspects have accepted their involvement in 15 incidents in the area during the primary probe conducted by the police.

DSP (City) Anil Kohli and Model Town SHO Bharat Masih told this while addressing a press conference in Model Town.

They said acting on a tip-off, the police nabbed the three suspects. A pistol, a country made pistol, a toy pistol, two bikes, eight mobile phones and Rs 2,000 in cash were recovered.

Kohli said the police party, led by SHO Bharat Masih, raided Harodkhanpur Chowk on the basis of a tip-off. The three suspects tried to flee after seeing the police party.

ASI Rachhpal Singh and the police party nabbed them after a chase. The suspects have been identified as Gurdeep Singh, alias Kaka, from Sarangwal village, Mandeep Singh, alias Kalu, of Nangal Shaheedan and Kulwant Singh alias Ghinty, a resident of Bohan village. The ASI said fake number plates were fitted on motorcycles recovered from the suspects.

He said during the primary probe, they admitted that they had looted and stole these from houses in Tagore Nagar, Mohalla Milap Nagar, Purheeran and other areas.

They said the suspects had confessed their involvement in 15 cases of robbery and theft. The ASI said a case had been registered under various sections against the three suspects. — OC
