Road Safety Week, 2019, will be observed from February 4 to 10 here under the aegis of the the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and National Road Safety Council.
The traffic unit of the Delhi Police has chalked out an awareness campaign and activities for Road Safety Week to reduce following traffic violations and make people follow the rules of the road. The campaign aims at making people aware of the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts. It will also spread awareness against drunken driving, overspeeding, overloading and overcrowding of commercial goods carrying vehicles, said Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic Police.
“Owners of old vehicles will be advised to use reflective tapes and tail lights,” he said.
The Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic) will flag off a walkathon on February 4 from India Gate to mark the beginning of event. Students from various schools, colleges, and volunteers from different NGOs and corporate houses will participate in it.
