Road safety guru awarded India Safety Award 2019

Dr Kamal Soi has been conferred with the India Safety Award 2019.The award was given by the American Society of Safety Professionals, a 100-year-old American organisation.

Dr Soi has been awarded for his work on sustainable promotion of electric vehicles (EVs), reducing speed by implementing speed governors, forgiving roads and implementing Euro VI in all automobile vehicles.

Dr Soi is among one of the top road-safety scientist of the world. He has won 28 international and national awards to date. He has won three state awards, including State Bravery Award.

He is the recipient of Godfrey Philips for physical bravery, Humanitarian Award from the Unites States of America and Royal Dutch Award for road safety.

Dr Soi said he was indebted to the American Society of Safety Professionals. “Working for awards has never been my motive. It pains me when I hear about fatal accidents. If a little effort on my part can save a persons’ life, I will be the happiest person and my purpose of coming to this world will be fulfilled,” he said.

“Rules must be followed and there has to be a system by which things should work. By installing speed governors and other items, if we can reduce accidents, save precious lives, work as a shield to protect fast deteriorating environment , I will go ahead and work towards it more vigorously,” said Dr Soi.
