In an incident of road rage, a 43-year-old auto driver was assaulted by two persons riding a motorcycle at the Hallo Majra light point last evening. The victim suffered 15 stitches on his ear and four stitches on his head.
The victim, Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Ram Darbar, was going towards Mauli Jagran to drop a passenger. He stopped the auto at the Hallo Majra light point when the light turned red. “Two persons riding a motorcycle asked me to move my auto ahead so that they could leave. However, since the light was red and there was a vehicle ahead, I couldn’t move my auto,” Rakesh said.
The victim and the suspects entered into an altercation following which they attacked the victim. “I was hit with bricks on my head and ear,” the victim said.
Passersby rescued him after which one of the miscreants, who was riding the motorcycle, sped away, while the pillion rider was caught at the spot by a traffic cop.
The victim was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. The victim, who is already a kidney patient, received a serious injury on his ear.
The police were informed about the incident following which the suspect nabbed on the spot was booked under preventive measures. The matter is under investigation at the Sector 31 police station.

November 2018: Five youths riding a car thrashed a motorcyclist with baseball bats near Hallo Majra after he asked the car driver to drive carefully.
November 2018: Two groups came to blows and opened fire following a road rage incident in Sector 22.
September 2018: Miscreants riding an SUV, which was being driven on the wrong side, thrashed a biker after he objected to the traffic violation on the road separating Sector 22 and 21.
