Amritsar, January 11

Activists of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India(RMPI) held a rally at Tapiala to mark the death anniversary of Sukhdev Singh, an activist of Dehati Mazdoor Lehar and other activists of the area.

Central committee member and general secretary of the Dehati Mazdoor Sabha, Gurnam Singh Daud, said the policies of the Central Government and Capt Amarinder Singh in Punjab were almost similar. “Both have failed to fulfil their election promises, especially the ones related to agriculture crisis and bailing out farmers from the debts. The Central and the state government have failed to work towards building the agriculture sector and providing promised benefits, including free plots to people belonging to needy and lower castes.” The farmer leaders said the state government had failed to protect welfare and rights of farmers. “Farmers and farm hands are facing a deeper crisis every passing day. Despite that, prices of their produce are still falling and small scale farmers are not even getting the deserved price for their crop. Similarly, they were not getting any benefit under healthcare or social security schemes. The Punjab government had failed to provide promised unemployment financial support of Rs 2500 to every youth, pointed out Dr Satnam Singh Ajnala, Jamhoori Kisan Sabha state president.
