Punjab Police Pensioners Day was celebrated at Red Cross Bhawan here today. Veteran police officials demanded that ‘Salami’ should to be given to retired cops on their cremation, and preferential treatment should be given to them at local police stations.

Having retired from various ranks of the Punjab Police, Charan Singh Bhat, president, Punjab Police Pensioners Welfare Society; conveyed to the Police Commissioner Gurpeet Singh Bhullar; that veterans were not being treated with respect.

Some of the retired cops regretted that sometimes the government takes more than two to three years to disseminate the benefits and clear the pending bills.

Besides, family members of the martyrs and the deceased cops asked the commissioner to recruit their wards in the Punjab Police.

Amninder Kaur, wife of a veteran constable, Nirmal Singh, who died a few years ago, asked the officials to recruit his son in the police. The Police Commissioner assured her and other veterans that he would help Amninder Kaur.
